Summer Camp: The Place Good Humans Are Raised
I am a mom to two young children, a boy and a girl, and I am constantly questioning my parenting skills. ‘Am I doing enough to teach them to be kind and thoughtful?’, 'How do I make sure they know that other people matter?, 'What do I…

Could you go Screen-Free for a Summer?
We survived 48 hours without power at camp this summer. And most of the kids didn’t even notice. If that doesn’t tell you something about the pros of being screen-free (and living outside), I don’t know what will.
At camp we have no phones…

I Promise It Didn't Rain All Summer
It’s been almost 3 weeks since the last overnight campers departed and I’ve spent a good chunk of that time thinking back through this summer and everything that we experienced; the good, the ‘bad’ (it’s camp, so nothing’s really ever that bad),…

Fifteen Summers, Thousands of Stories
At Camp Sloane, the magic of summer doesn’t just happen on the waterfront or the ropes course. It happens in phone calls, kitchen-table conversations, late-night emails, and quiet moments when a parent needs reassurance that their child will…
I was interviewing a potential staff member the other day and they asked me what I love most about Sloane (great question, by the way).

But you haven’t signed your kid up yet. And there’s probably a reason.
Here’s the thing about camp - the fun isn’t just about splashing in the lake, singing at opening campfire, or getting a little muddy on the mountain bike trail after it’s rained (though we love all of that).
Remember what it felt like to spend all day outside with your friends, knowing you were safe, but feeling completely free and independent (and oh so grown up)?
