The first week of the session was hot and sunny, the perfect way to kick off some great new activities, with the campers choosing from things like Climbing, Tennis, Sailing, Culinary, Jazz Dance and more.
There were some great evening programs too, with the Seniors and students participating in Kaos, a mass shaving cream fight, while the Pio and Juniors enjoyed activities like a pool party and Banana boating. We had an all-camp Square Dance towards the end of the week, the last one of the summer, and everyone had a ball, dancing the night away.
Waterski Camp also had their overnight, which included a delicious Lobster dinner, followed by great sunset and sunrise ski sessions.
Olympics Day jump-started Week 2, with all of camp being split into their countries and competing against each other for the ultimate glory. They played intense games of Basketball, Volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee, as well as testing their Penalty shootout skills and battling it out in a swim relay. There was an epic Longest Line contest that stretched all the way across the A-field, and then in the evening a relay that spread across the whole of camp took place and decided the eventual winner. Winning the Bronze Log was England, Scotland came in 2nd, taking home the Silver Dustpan, Ireland were the overall champions, collecting the Golden Paddle!
New activities began the next day, again with campers able to do a multitude of different options, ranging from High Ropes, to Crew, to Raft building, to Friendship bracelets and much more. The Riding Campers continued with their classes, and even went on a off camp trip to a horse rescue center and to watch some horse trials at a show.
We had a few stormy, wet days at the start of the week, but luckily it didn’t continue for long, and our fantastic overnights could go ahead as planned. The campers went out to different spots around camp, cooked their dinner on the campfire, enjoyed yummy s’mores and played games before falling asleep under the stars.
The end of the week approached and before we knew it, it was time for the Performing Arts Showcase. Campers and staff got up on stage to show off their hidden talents, some singing, some dancing, and some even amazing us with their Rubix cube skills.
And finally, it was the last night of the session – after enjoying a fabulous banquet meal, we all headed to the Performing Arts Building for the Closing Campfire, where each Village put on a skit to the theme of ‘Musicals’, making the rest of us smile and laugh at their representation of camp through all the different themes they had chosen!
What a great session it’s been - we can’t believe there’s only one more week left of summer, but we know we’ll be seeing you all again next year!
